Hello!
Hello, everyone! This is Amber. I've set up this forum because we can never have too many places to meet other Catholics, learn more about the faith and talk with others who are curious about what Catholics believe.
I hope to keep things as orthodox as humanly possible around here!
A little about me: I am a mother to three great kids, ages 9, 7 and 6! We are converts to Catholicism and I was received into the Church on April 7, 2007! I am currently enrolled in three college courses and I work full time as a legal assistant. There are never enough hours in the day to accomplish all I want to do! I do some freelance web-design on the side, which is good practice for me since that's what I'm going to school for...
Anyway, enough about me! Tell me about you!

Re: Hello!
Hi Amber and all,
This is Jill. I, too, converted to the Catholic faith the same day as you: 4-7-07. Cindy, was my sponsor, and it was great having her. There is no end of opportunities to grow and to learn more about my faith.
My husband, Glenn, and I have 2 girls. One is engaged with a wedding date set for June 22nd. She's 19 and I can hardly believe this! Our younger daughter is 17 and she's taking classes at our local JC and working at Panera which is awesome because we love to eat there, too.
I substitute teach at the elementary school 3 houses down, but am also doing a 120-hour externship as a pharmacy tech. I think I'll probably choose to teach even after the externship as it's pretty nice just say, "No thanks, not today" if I don't feel like working that day.
OK, them's are the nuts and bolts of me. Hey, Cindy! How 'bout you??

Re: Hello!
Hi Everyone,
Amber this is so exciting! I wish you great success with the forum.
Let see ..... I am a convert to the Catholic faith also. I will be received into the Church this Easter. I have been on this journey for over the last two years, but it really has been a lifetime. I can't wait to see where this journey will lead! Bith Amber and Cindy have been very helpful and great support to me during my journey. I thank them both.
My husband, Mark and I have two girls soon to be 24 and 20. Both of my daughters are in college. My older on is studying to be a Dietitian and my younger one is studying to be a Speech therapist. We are huge Washington State University fans - Go Cougs! If you watch any basketball game and see a short haired blond jumping up and down in the front row, that is most likely my youngest.
I work full time as a Dietitian at a home care company. On my days off I work for my parents who own a greenhouse business. That is how I came up with my name Flower-child.
I should add that I am the only Catholic in my family, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. I continue to hope and pray that some day the rest of my family will convert, but for now it just keeps things interesting.
I guess that is it about me any my family. It will be fun getting to know everyone.
Terri

Hey Ya'll!
I'm Deanna - Tim's (St Timothy) wife. We have three children - our oldest daughter will be 15 in a few weeks, our son is 12 and our youngest daughter is 10. We came into the church, all together, in 2006. If you want the short version of our story -
Tim brought up the possibility of the Catholic church
my response was
Tim prayed
and Tim studied
eventually I prayed
too
We converted to the Catholic church
Tim's family reacted like this
My family reacted like this :affraid:
If you are interested in more detail you can read our conversion stories on our blogs -
Tim's story is posted at http://timglass.wordpress.com/looking-for-home-my-conversion-story/
My story is posted at http://jipmeister.wordpress.com/longing-for-home/
Tim and I have been married for 19 years - some of those years have been longer than others but he's still the best friend I've ever had! We have been on quite a journey together these last two decades and most recently (Feb 2007) we took another step in that journey by moving from our home in Montgomery Alabama to Northern Iowa ...... yes, Iowa!
And there ya have it - I'll quit playing with the emoticons now!

Re: Hello!
Hullo all...
Short and sweet about me. I'm cradle Catholic but had a few years where I was barely practicing. Met and eventually married a non-Catholic who's questions got me fired up to learn as much as possible about what we believe and why...I've known Amber for over a year...even though we've never met :~o She has helped me learn more with questions during her journey and with info I did not know. So, hope this forum has much success cause it seems like it'll be great.

Re: Hello!
Hello all. I'm RobK.
I am was lucky enough to be born Catholic and was provided parents and a community that have been faithful during these turbulent 40 years. I find myself well catechized and strong in my faith. I have had moments of conversion and a radical deepening of faith in Christ, but it have never strayed from the Church - a terrible sinner yes, but a Catholic one.
I am married and have three kids. I am taking some theology courses right now as well. Amber and I started our blogs at nearly the same time, and have been keeping in contact ever since. I look forward to participating here.

Hi. My name is Mary and I am a friend of Cindy's. I became a Catholic in 1951. I live in New Jersey and have 2 adult sons. I work in the direct marketing industry but the real joy of my life is singing in the choir.
I look forward to the renewal of the faith throughout the world.

Re: Hello!
Hi!
I am Jeanne, wife of Brian and mom to 8 children: Dan, almost 24, a Marine Reserve, married and with 2 children. Matt, is 21, and has given me all my gray hair. Mike 16, Sam 14, David 12, Tom and Ben 10, and Elisabeth is 8. We homeschool and have all along.
I was raised Catholic but left in college when some well meaning protestants told me the Pope was the ant-christ!! It shows how well I was catechized.
I was a very happy protestant for 10 years even being baptized by immersion in a Baptist church. I consider myself "covered" at both ends.
Though I was married in a Catholic church I was not active.
When our baby daughter died from a handicap, I really left the church, because Fr. A________ would not annoint her with oil according to the book of James. Though Teresa was baptized in a Catholic church, her funeral was protestant. That shows how bitter and uneducated I was.
When Teresa died we had 2 young children at home. I so badly wanted another baby and my husband said no. Then two events happened simultaneously: I got pregnant and I met my friend, Cheryl, the happiest Catholic I ever met!! Cheryl is a convert from Lutheranism and she told me about John 6: the Bread Of Life Discourse.
I read and prayed and went to a Catholic church wanting to see lightening bolts and hear angels singing. I sat in the back pew with my arms crossed angrily. What did I see? Faithful people walking up to Communion with their hands folded. I believed.
That was almost 17 years ago!!
Once you love Jesus as Lord and Savior and then meet HIm in the Blessed Sacrament, you need search no further!! He is the Source and Summit!!
I found this forum, because Deanna found my blog on her husbands blog. She wrote me, I visited her blog and found Amber's blog. I wrote to Amber and asked for help on an apologetics issue on my blog, and voila!! the rest is history!
I started my blog after my son Sam was being prosetylzed by protestant friends.
Besides homeschooling, I have a home business marketing medical and dental benefits.
I look forward to getting to know and love you all as brothers and sisters in our Lord!!

Hello everyone!
Amber, let me congradulate you for this forum, it's a wonderful opportunity to meet people who have went through a similar spiritual journey to yours.
Now for some short introductions. My name is Dragan, and I have recently converted into Catholicism (12-15-07). I come from a small country and am a student of English language and literature.
I became Catholic mostly because I felt that I needed a faith that would make me feel peaceful. So after some time of study and gathering the courage I decided that I want to fulfill my wish and definitely convert.
Personally, I love reading and meeting new people. I am also very passionate about languages and different cultures and of course the Catholic Church, my second mother:)
And another thing, I'm heavily addicted to coffee:)

Re: Hello!
Hey Everybody,
I also converted on 4/07/07, with Amber. What a blessing!
I am a special education teacher at a public high school. No, I'm not a saint. Sometimes my job is frustrating, but I really love working with those kids, difficult as it may be at times. Pray for us!!
I do not have any children of my own, but have three precious god children - siblings.
Did I mention that I'm a preacher's kid?
My dog, Salty, is the greatest!
I am currently single, looking for that lucky guy!
Someday, Lord willing, I intend to become a horseback therapist - working with handicapped and/or depressed people to teach them horsemanship skills.
I enjoy cooking, antiques, people, travel, animals and serving Jesus.
God is great! My heart is full of love.

Hello all
Well, this is a suprise! My name is Jason but my spiritual name is Benedict John-Paul. I was baptized into the Catholic Church January 28th and Confirmed March 23 of this year. I am currently in a Nursing Home, but will be going to Assisted Living hopefully by May 12th (at least that is what we are praying about and aiming for.) I try to read my Catechism daily -- or at least some kind of spiritual material every day. I also watch EWTN alot as well. I have been watching the Pope yesterday and today as will be doing so all week.
