Latin
It seems many members here are converts. What do you think about Latin? Have you ever attended the Extraordinary Form of the Mass? Should we bring more Latin back into the Mass as they do on EWTN?

Re: Latin
I have never attended the Extraordinary Form of the Mass but I would SO love to. I would love to attend an EWTN-type Mass locally, but I have yet to find anything even remotely close. They do have a mission that has a Tridentine Mass a few times per month but I haven't made it there yet.
While I wouldn't want to give up the Mass in English entirely, I greatly desire to attend a Latin Mass as I feel it would encourage a deeper spiritual connection to God and His Church. I believe it would help to foster the reverence that has gone by the wayside in many parishes today as well.

Yes!
Thank God for our Holy Father, Pope Benedict and for his Motu Proprio, Summorum Pontificum!

Re: Latin
Hi Mary,
I have been attending the Extraordinary Form of Holy Mass for about 14 years, and I could not live without it. That Mass is as the great Fr. Fredrick Faber said "The Most Beautiful Thing This Side of Heaven".
I have been blessed, in that I have never lived more tha a hour car ride away from that Mass.

Re: Latin
Mary,
(That's my daughter's name, too!)
I am not a convert, but I do attend both forms of the Mass.
The NO at my parish is done reverently, Latin is given pride of place (as was instructed at the Second Vatican Council), Gregorian Chant is used, etc. It is a gorgeous Mass.
But I much prefer the EF Mass - I think the prayers are so very lofty and otherworldly. My daughter was recently baptized in the old form, and it reduced me to sobs. (I held it together mostly for the actual baptism. It was afterwards that I was a mess.)
It was SO amazing. I am still in shock.

Re: Latin
Congratulations on your daughter's baptism. Can you tell us some of the differences between the new form and the old? I have been to baptisms pre-VII but don't remember much about them.
